Charming Chuckle of a short film.
8 February 2006 | by mdmelilSee all my reviews

"Zombies In My Neighborhood", the short subject by Larry Longstreth, is a great little mockumentary exercise. Even if you are not a fan of the zombie/horror genre, this is a charming send-up of both the genre and indie film clichés. From the pretentious wannabes to the desperate has beens, this short visits stereotype's of all kinds. Aaron Longstreth has a great turn as the director's brother. However, the reason this short is such a pleasure to watch is Larry Longstreth himself. In a hopefully unintentional cliché, director Longstreth cast himself in the lead role of the Zombie film director. Luckily, he avoids what usually happens when a director feels the need to be the star. Instead of being an ego-centric hack job, Longstreth's nuanced and frankly hysterical performance elevates a cute short to cult status.
