Storyline
Plot Summary |
The supposedly servile Ood are now in the control of some type of beast that describes itself as Satan and claims to be a being that has existed since before the creation of the known universe. Rose takes charge and tries to find a way to get everyone out safely. The Doctor and Ida have descended 10 miles into the bowels of the planet only to find themselves trapped there and unable to return to the surface. They find evidence of a ancient civilization and a seemingly bottomless pit where the doctor confronts the beast and finds the solution. The only problem is that the solution may kill Rose. Did You Know?
Trivia | The crew only had about 15 minutes left to get the scene where the Doctor gives his big speech to the Devil in the pit done. David Tennant nailed it in one take. See more » |
Goofs | Despite the comments of the Doctor and others, it is quite possible to establish a stable orbit around a black hole (or any other large mass in space), given appropriate velocity and distance. (Our own Sun is, in fact, in orbit around a super-massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy.) See more » |

Quotes |
The Doctor:
[the Doctor has realized that, if he releases the Beast and destroys it, both he and Rose will die]
So that's the trap, the great test, the final judgement, I dunno. But if I kill you, I kill her. The Doctor: [the Beast laughs evilly] But that implies, in this big grand scheme of gods and devils, that she's just a victim. Well, I've seen a lot of this universe. I've seen fake gods and bad gods and demi-gods and would-be gods. I've had the whole pantheon. But if I believe in one thing... just one thing... I believe in her! See more » |
