A map in the Situation Room shows the disputed South Asian region of Kashmir. The map identifies the Pakistani-controlled portion of Kashmir as "Jamu" (sic) and the Indian-controlled portion as "Kashmir". Jammu (the correct spelling has two M's) is a region completely within the south western part of the Indian-controlled territory, which is why the official Indian name for the entire state is "Jammu and Kashmir". The Pakistani-controlled regions are known as "Azad Kashmir" and the "Northern Areas", and the Chinese regions are known as "Aksai Chin" and the "Trans-Karakoram Tract". The name "Kashmir" collectively refers to the entire territory, including the Pakistani-, Indian- and Chinese-controlled territory. See more »
