The final episode does feature Gabe Kaplan

"The Bread Winners" was the very last episode, the only one to examine married life for the Horshacks, and featuring a cameo from the bearded Gabe Kaplan, though John Travolta is of course absent. Epstein plans to interview for a job wearing Bonzo Maretti's clothes, courtesy Principal Woodman's pretty niece Kelly (Georganne LaPiere, previously seen in "The Goodbye Guy"). Washington makes such a good impression on Mrs. Gladstone Trevors-Smythe (Priscilla Morrill) that she hires him to work in her antique store, which turns out to be the same position that Juan was expecting to get. Kotter offers sage advice to Freddie but Epstein would rather fight than talk, so the final scene in the final episode takes place in a gym, with a happy ending for both. It's just as well that the show ended here, as inspiration was no longer in evidence.
