Trivia

Late in the filming of the second season, Richard Basehart fell ill during the filming of this show and was unable to complete that episode and work in the next two. It was rewritten to minimize the part of his character, Adm. Nelson (knocked out of action in the first act), with a stand-in used for many shots with the face hidden and lines dubbed. See more »

Ten Out Of Ten Introduction To The New Voyage/Sea
26 July 2010 | by See all my reviews

A space probe returns to earth with a balloon-shaped monster from outer space that then does the invasion-of-the-body-snatchers thing on board Seaview.

Everything gets ten out of ten: the story, the acting from the whole cast, the direction, the wonderfully loud music score, everything is just outstanding! And for those who think my reviews have payed too little attention to David Hedison, well guess what, David is great when taken over by the alien to the point that he almost steals the hour from Basehart!

The Monster From Outer Space could be described as what year three would have looked like, and sounded like, if it had a year two budget. But many others view this hour as "jump-the-shark" time which probably explains why I am the first to review it on the IMDb.
