Summaries

  • After holding up the bank, Dell Stetler and his partner hold the Graingers hostage at Shiloh to help their wounded comrade. John is forced to bring the doctor to Shiloh to tend to the man as he and Stacey plot a way to free themselves.
  • The Graingers visit Medicine Bow where Elizabeth (Sara Lane) picks up one of many new breeds of chickens she ordered and John (Charles Bickford) visits the bank. Meanwhile, at the saloon Dell Stetler (John Saxon) waits at the saloon as the other four members of his gang arrive. One is late due to a lame horse delaying their planned robbery of the bank. As two of the men enter the bank, one member, Bob Archer (Harry Carey Jr.) feels something is wrong. As he walks into the street, Ryker (Clu Gulager) yells at him from his seat, telling him to look up. The building roofs are lined with the Sheriff and deputies. Archer is wounded but captured, one man is killed, and the other three escape. Stetler and Cullen Tindall (Harrison Ford) are unharmed but Roy Tindall (John Goddard) is severely wounded. Because their hands have all gone on a trail drive for two weeks, the two men take Roy to Shiloh where they take the Graingers who are alone hostage forcing them to tend to Roy, and John Grainger to get Dr. Hinton (Paul Fix) to help. This results in a matching of wits between John Grainger and Stetler while the law searches for the bandits.—Anonymous
