    • Trivia
During the filming of this episode, Penny Marshall (at the behest of her brother, Garry Marshall) approached Jack Klugman on her brother's behalf with a proposal to appear in a new sitcom Garry was producing, a TV version of the film The Odd Couple (1968). Not really knowing who Garry Marshall was, and not especially keen at the time to do comedy, Klugman demurred. Some time later and just before the commencement of shooting the series pilot, Klugman was again contacted by Marshall and (after reading the script) only then became interested in playing the part of Oscar Madison (shortly after a play he was appearing in and had developed for 10 years closed after just four performances).

Doris Hanrahan: He needs a job.

Dr. Edward Hanrahan: The runner seems to like your motorcycle Bronson, he realizes he could out run practically everybody with it, which is exactly what part of him would like to do

Jim Bronson: Sounds a little bit like me.

      Dr. Edward Hanrahan: He's hired.
