- It's Red's birthday, Bob and Midge are both dating other people and Eric is upset Donna talked to Hyde about her parent's problems instead of talking to him.
- Red's birthday starts with a collapsing bedroom ceiling, then practical presents, but the worst is still to come: dinner with the Pinciottis, who bring separate dates as they are constantly fighting, by notice-board, in language unfit for Donna while Hyde 'would appreciate it'; yet they decide to have sex in the car, which makes Kitty hornily jealous. Eric stresses like a drama queen because Donna talks to Hyde, not him, about her family problems. Fez shows Kelso how to make up the feudal age courting way, then uses the helmet the basement boys made Kelso wear 'for being so dumb'.—KGF Vissers
- Red's birthday starts with a collapsing bedroom ceiling, then practical presents from everyone. Eric gets 2X4's for the ceiling, Hyde gets booze (which he took from Bob's house), Laurie gets $7 (Kitty had given her $20 for a present, and Laurie spent $13 on booze and cigarettes), Kitty gets him new underwear, but the worst is still to come: dinner at a restaurant with the Pinciottis, who bring separate dates Carol (Jenilee Harrison) and Ted (Richard Kline). Ted is a marriage counselor and Carol loves horses.
Bob and Midge constantly fighting at home, by writing nasty messages to each other on the fridge noticeboard, in language unfit for Donna. But Bob says that Hyde can read them since Hyde 'would appreciate it'. Yet Bob and Midge decide to have sex in the car. At the restaurant Ted makes a snide comment about Midge (indicating that Midge is not very smart) and Bob defends her and they leave asap to have sex in Bob's car, which makes Kitty horny jealous. Red gives the bill to Ted and leaves the restaurant with Kitty.
Donna speaks to Hyde that Midge has moved out of the bedroom into the guest room. She is seeing them split apart and she can do nothing about it. Hyde mentions this to Eric when he is with the gang in Eric's basement. Eric stresses like a drama queen because Donna talks to Hyde, not him, about her family problems. Eric and Donna are at their usual make-put spot in Eric's Vista Cruiser, & Eric tries to be aloof to Donna, but she keeps smooching his face off and Eric can't think straight
The next day, Eric confronts Hyde about talking to Donna, and Hyde says that Donna was friends with him before she became Eric's girlfriend. Hyde says that he is the one supposed to be angry since Eric should be the sympathetic friend and Hyde should be the make-out guy.
Finally, Eric confronts Donna About talking to Hyde, and instead Donna is angry that the guys are talking about her behind her back. Donna tells Eric that she went to Hyde as his family is broken like hers. She says Eric cannot help her in this matter, as he has a normal family. That's when Bob and Midge walk in and announce that they had sex in the car. But they are not back together, as "why ruin a good thing".
Jackie suspects Kelso is keeping something from her (Kelso hesitated when Jackie asked if he loved her). The basement boys make Kelso wear a helmet 'for being so dumb'. Fez and Hyde warn Kelso that he will lose Jackie if he doesn't take care of her.
Fez reads a really nice and romantic paragraph to Jackie, and she still smooches Kelso, when he simply adds "what he just said". Fez wears the helmet and bangs his head on the table.
Since the bedroom ceiling is gone, Kitty and Red have sex in the basement. When the gang returns they can sense something bad happened there in their absence.
