Jim Hardie is on the trail of an holdup man when he arrives in a town where the agent is awaiting a bride to be. She arrives on the stage which has been held up but her knowledge of the incident goes beyond simply being a witness to it.

A Wells Fargo stage is being held up by a lone holdup man. When he opens the strongbox it contains no money - only a few worthless documents. The lone passenger - a woman - faints when he starts to tell her to get out. As he leaves the robbery he kills the shotgun guard. The driver and the woman put the dead guard in the coach and ride on top on the box to town. Jim Hardie has just arrived on the trail of a man who has held up four stages. He arrives to find old friend and agent Ben Wilson dressed up as if going to church. Turns out the woman on the stage, Ellen Stevens, may be his bride to be. They have been corresponding so she is traveling there to see if they should get married. However, due to the snoopy hotel manager, Kate Wiggam, Jim learns that Ellen is not the school teacher she says she is. Furthermore, she has other information that will prove beneficial to Jim.
