Storyline

On their first visit to a new planet, SG-1 finds it subject to totally destructive volcanic activity and saves ten natives, the Tollan, a far more technologically advanced society. Their leader Omoc isn't grateful, nor interested in such a primitive race as the earthlings or any of the 'even more primitive' planets which are prepared to host them. Only one Tollan, Narim, shows an active interest in life on earth, especially in captain Samantha Carter and the cat Schrodinger she gives him, explaining his planet was destroyed after the Tolan supplied an unlimited energy source to a primitive neighboring planet which abused it for a cataclysmic weapon. Meanwhile the White House authorized NID colonel Mayborn to take charge over the Tollan for military purposes, exactly Omoc's nightmare... Written by KGF Vissers [Edited: by Nitemare]

Trivia

Opening scene. "This is like Pompeii, everyone died of suffocation before the lava started to flow." First, there was minimal lava associated with the 79 AD Mt. Vesuvius eruption, and none got anywhere near Pompeii. Second, while folks used to believe the people suffocated, that explanation never explained the live action postures of the majority of the bodies. It is now generally accepted that the fourth of the eruption's six pyroclastic surges killed the people. A pyroclastic cloud can easily reach temperatures over 500°F and move downslope at several hundreds of miles an hour. The citizens of Pompeii probably died instantly from heat shock. See more »

simple story
22 April 2013 | by trashgangSee all my reviews

While visiting a new planet SG-1 has to save The Tollan from a volcanic eruption. The Tollans are far more educated than the earthlings and their leader Omoc (Tobin Bell) doesn't show any interest in earth or isn't even thankful for their rescue. But not all Tollans aren't interested in earth, Narim, has feelings for Carter.

Again a very simple story with a surprise, Carter actually is kissing on-camera. Further it's a surprise to see Tobin Bell a few years for his breakthrough in Saw (2004-2010).

Nothing special on part of effects, again very simple story taking place at the SG-1 base.
