Storyline

As acting captain, and despite Picard being aboard the Borg ship (absorbed into the Collective and rechristened "Locutus"), Commander Riker has no choice but to fire full force on the vessel. No effect. Subsequent emergency repairs keep the Enterprise from joining a united stand with Admiral J. P. Hanson (along with Klingon aid). With Picard deemed lost forever, Riker is granted full command. He orders technology to be rendered unpredictable, such as randomizing phaser settings. Hanson's communication cuts out: the war must be going badly. To avoid musical chairs, Riker names Borg expert Lieutenant Commander Elizabeth Paula Shelby his XO. At a renewed confrontation, Locutus refuses to come to terms, the saucer separates, and gunfire engages, including an anti-matter spread. Data and Worf beam into the Borg ship, overpower them and get Locutus into their shuttle and beam away before it's shot down. Goofs

When Data and Worf take a shuttle to rescue Picard, they leave the saucer section via one of its shuttle bays. Through the port side windows, it's seen that they pass the warp drive section before they approach the Borg cube. This arrangement makes it appear that the shuttle left the saucer section from the front side. However, the shuttle bays are at the back of the saucer. There was no footage of them turning 180 degrees to head towards the cube. See more »

The second part to two of the best "Star Trek: The Next Generation" shows ever...

Apart from "The Inner Light", I think the two-part "The Best of Both Worlds" is the best that the series ever got. A fascinating plot, LOTS of action and suspense and a lot of originality make this a must-see.

In part one, the Borg decided to finally attack the Federation. In one of their first acts, they kidnapped Picard and used him and his knowledge for their upcoming attacks. Riker is faced with having to most likely die at his old friend's hand--and this is how episode one ends.

Episode two finds the Enterprise crew disheartened with the loss of Picard and death a seeming inevitability. They are not present, however, when a final Armageddon-like battle in space occurs and the Borg are barely slowed by a combined fleet of Federation and Klingon ships. So now it's up to Riker to come up with some strategy that won't be guessed by Picard/Locutus--and figure it out fast as the Borg collective is fast approaching Earth!

All I can say is watch this show. It and part one are like a movie--a darned good one at that.
