Storyline

Ian Randall is a mentally unbalanced, overachieving student desperate to succeed who gets a 'C' from his stern shop teacher John Frankle. Ian freaks out, duplicates himself and kills Mr. Frankle. The meteor-rock mutant simultaneously invites Lana and Chloe on a literal 'double date', aiming to get a scholarship from Luthor Corp to Yale by using the girls who know Lex Luther. Meanwhile, Lana moves to Chloe's house to live with her and divorced father after Nell leaves town. Clark tries to advise Lana and Chloe about the personality and ability of Ian, but he is misunderstood. Elsewhere, Jonathan breaks his leg, and Lex Luthor meets Dr. Helen Bryce, who is treating Jonathan where an immediate attraction develops between Lex and Dr. Bryce. Quotes

Lex Luthor: How's your dad?
Clark Kent: He's okay. It's my mom I'm worried about. She blames herself for the accident.
Lex Luthor: Well, your mom's taken on a lot and she's trying to find a balance. Believe me, it's not always that easy.
Clark Kent: [jokingly] Guess I'm just lucky she didn't take a 9-iron to a meter maid's car.
Lex Luthor: [smiles awkwardly] You heard about that.
Clark Kent: The town is called Smallville.
Lex Luthor: I was having a bad day.
Clark Kent: [grins] Yeah.

Life is Made of Choices and Priorities
24 April 2006 | by claudio_carvalhoSee all my reviews

When the excellent student Ian Randall (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) gets a C from his teacher John Frankle (Serge Houde), he freaks out, duplicates himself and kills Frankle. He simultaneously invites Lana Lang and Chloe Sullivan to date, aiming to get a scholarship from Luthor Corp through the girls. Lana moves to Chloe's house to live with her family. Clark Kent tries to advise Lana and Chloe about the personality and ability of Ian, but he is misunderstood. Jonathan Kent breaks his leg, and Lex Luthor meets Dr. Helen Bryce (Emmanuelle Vaugier), who is treating Jonathan. Lana and Chloe promise to each other to keep no more secrets between them.

"Dichotic" is another good episode of Smallville, when Clark becomes upset with Lana Lang and Chloe Sullivan. The story shows that life is made of choices and priorities, being impossible sometimes to get all of them at the same time. My vote is nine.
