    • Trivia
The old, deranged version of Mr. Burns is based on Howard Hughes in his latter years; the Kleenex and saved urine were two of the most infamously-well-known aspects of Hughes' madness. The Spruce Moose is a parody of Hughes' plane Hercules, which everyone called the Spruce Goose.
    • Goofs
Homer comes to get Marge as he's going home from work at the casino, and Maggie is neither seen in the floor nor addressed as to where she is. Homer then leaves without Maggie, yet Maggie is seen at the house the next morning (and Marge is still at the casino).

      [Lisa has had a nightmare]

Lisa: Well, I know it's absurd, but I dreamed the boogeyman was after me, and he was hiding under...

Homer: Ahhhhhhhhhh! Boogeyman! You nail the windows shut, I'll get the gun!

      [Homer bursts into Bart's room]

Homer: Bart, I don't want to alarm you, but there may be a boogeyman or boogeymen in the house!

      Bart: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

    Gambling Problem
The economy Springfield is on the ropes, so the powers that be decide to build a casino. Of course, Burns is the only one who has the capital to do this. This leads to corruption, crime, and prostitution. Also Marge becomes addicted to slot machines. Burns becomes Howard Hughes. There's much more including Robert Goulet performing at Bart's mini-casino.
