After Ann sees what she believes to be a sea serpent, she writes on a slate "Come up" to warn her husband and Mike Nelson to get out of the water. The camera shows her quickly write, not print, on two distinct lines of text on the slate. But after the slate is thrown overboard, the next scene reveals the message neatly printed in all capital letters on one line of text, "COME UP."
