- Tod and Buz, camping out near Sante Fe, New Mexico, have a run-in with a madman who is illegally hunting. Their car damaged, Tod and Buz seek the man out in Santa Fe. Buz gets satisfaction by giving him a severe beating. Later they are blamed for poaching and again seek the man out. This time the interchange becomes deadly.—dubchi
- While having a relaxing day at a state game reserve near Santa Fe, New Mexico, Tod and Buz catch and stop a group of four from hunting, the leader, a man calling himself Hump, who almost shot a yearling. He is Hump Humphrey, the 49% minority owner of M-Pat, a regional trucking company. Hump worked his way up the company from driver to the minority owner position under now 51% majority owner, Gus Patton. Hump got to this position using what he wields in every situation in his life: his muscle, which includes his guns, and his power and clout through intimidation largely now from having money. Hump's way of doing business on behalf of the company does not sit well with Gus. Hump's general way of leading his life also does not sit well with Tod and Buz in their encounter with him. Tod and Buz get into a standoff with Hump, each side which is determined to take the other down, although Hump is willing to use illegal means to win, including murder. On Hump's side is a woman named Trinket, a party girl who Hump generally uses to keep male business associates entertained. Trinket is largely complicit in Hump's activities seemingly out of resignation as she knows she will be one of his casualties if she ever tries to leave. She may end up being a large part in resolving the standoff between Tod, Buz and Hump, but not before some collateral damage occurs.—Huggo
