While trying to restore the lawns at a school that caters to the children of wealthy foreigners, Rosemary and Laura become involved in a murder mystery. Angelica is an attractive Polish student who spurns the advances of more than one male at the school. When one of her suitors turns up dead, she is among the suspects and the women sleuths add the death of the man to their already perplexing problem of the death of patches of grass in orderly rows.
Rosemary and Laura are called in to improve the health of the front lawn of a posh private college popular with the daughters of wealthy foreigners. Their investigation soon expands from discovering what is killing the grass to who murdered a male staff member notorious for taking liberties with his charges. Because Angelica, one of the students, carries a rare Prussian dagger which may be the murder weapon, she falls under suspicion, but after she suffers a fatal fall, Rosemary and Laura have to look elsewhere for the killer.
Rosemary and Laura are working to restore lawns at an exclusive boarding school when a body turns up.
