    Strong Rimmer episode

Ace Rimmer arrives in the present dimension and asks Arnold Rimmer to take his place as a inter-dimensional superhero.

This is a pretty strong episode with with a nice performance from Chris Barrie and plenty of funny visual gags.

The plot is character driven with most of the focus being on Rimmer. It works well as character development and for laughs.

All other performers are there (mostly) to support Barrie in this one and it works as a pretty effective goodbye to a brilliant character. (Although with hindsight we know it's really just 'see you later'). There are also some funny cameos from Brian Cox and Ken Morley.

The humour is pretty good with some decent banter and lots of sight-gags. The opening sequence is a great with Ace Rimmer doing cool Bond-tribute, complete with Villain, girl and unconvincing special effects. Another sequence with Lister seeking gratification in a role playing AR game work very well too.

    • Trivia
The episode was a favourite of Chris Barrie because he enjoyed the doing the James Bond style opening sequence which Ace Rimmer does battle with the Nazi and rescues Princess Bonjella. Barrie had modelled the voice of Ace Rimmer after Sean Connery, who played James Bond.
    • Goofs
The Cockpit interior is a standard type, which was only used on early pre war Heinkel 111's - most used the fully glazed nose seen on the flying model prop.
