Goofs

When Rimmer states that the skeletal remains of the Nova 5's crew have "less meat on them than a chicken nugget", his lip movements don't match the words. (It looks as though he originally said "Chicken McNugget" and the line was later overdubbed.) See more »

Quotes

Lister: Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it? You lose your keys, it's aliens. A picture falls off the wall, it's aliens. That time we used up a whole bog roll in a day, you thought that was aliens as well.
Rimmer: Well we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?
Lister: Rimmer, ALIENS used our bog roll?

Kryten
26 May 2018 | by Prismark10See all my reviews

A really strong season 2 opener with a pastiche of the Australian soap opera Neighbours called Androids and the introduction of Kryten played by David Ross for the first and only time.

Red Dwarf intercepts a distress call from the Space cruiser Nova 5. The crew rush in to help as the android Kryten tells them that the crew consists of beautiful women who have not had male company in eons. The crew have been dead for so long that only their skeleton remains.

With Kryten aboard Red Dwarf and built only to serve. Rimmer gives him some tasks and Lister wants him to rebel.

The episode really has some wonderfully funny scenes and gags. Such as Cat needing to be dragged away from a mirror to Kryten's Brando impersonation.

I really liked David Ross's version of Kryten. I always wondered why his English accent was replaced by a seemingly mid atlantic version when it was recast.

I always felt when the first series of Red Dwarf was broadcast that I was the only one watching. Now I could get other people to see the show with me.
