- Rowdy decides to help a prize fighter who threw a fight to him when the town decides to tar and feather him. He is carrying a heavy mystery package heading into dangerous Indian Territory where he leaves the drive with Rowdy following.
- A mysterious Irish prizefighter, Jeremiah, takes a shine to Rowdy and lets him win the fight by allowing Rowdy to last five rounds with him. He then joins the trail drive as it is headed in the direction he planned to go - toward some sacred Indian lands rumored to contain a buried treasure hoard. Jeremiah is carrying a heavy object in a sack, which is later revealed to be a gravestone. Further adding to the mystery is that he is also in possession of a rare golden religious artifact, the kind that Indians were forced to make years ago for Spanish masters. Eventually the Indians rebelled and recouped and buried much of the artifacts in mountains sacred to the Indians. ***Spoilers*** It seems that Jeremiah was once a greedy prospector who accidentally killed his son while probing the sacred Indian mountains. Devastated and chastened, he return to Ireland to bring back an Irish gravestone (with both father and son's names on it) to put at the burial site of the son, the same site where he expected to be killed by the Indians.—chipe

When the losing wagerers on the fight decide to tar and feather the fighter, Jeremiah, Rowdy sneaks him out of town to the drive along with a very heavy package where Favor hires him. As he entertains the drovers, he tells them about riches that were found in the Indian territory they are going to pass through. As they reach his destination in the Indian Territory they learn by accident he is carrying a tombstone. He leaves the drive during the night making sure the drovers can't follow by running off the horses. Rowdy goes after him with the one horse they catch. Later the Indians return the other horses with orders to be gone by the end of the day. Rowdy finds Jeremiah by a grave at an old mine. Jeremiah tells Rowdy how he looks like Jeremiah's son who he accidentally killed and buried there. He has planted the tombstone. As the Indians approach, Jeremiah knocks out and hides Rowdy. Jeremiah has no gun but takes on the Indians who instantly shoot him. Rowdy awakens alone to finally read the tombstone which explains everything.—Anonymous
