- A teenage girl dies after an abortion, and Quincy learns from her boyfriend that the doctor who performed on her may have been drunk. Quincy finds it hard to hold him accountable when everyone around him so willing to cover up for him.
- A seventeen-year old girl collapses and dies after having had an abortion. The family wants an autopsy and tells Asten that they will pay for a private one. Quincy performs it and thinks that her death was caused by the negligence of the doctor who performed the abortion. He visits the doctor and the hospital and finds out that the doctor was drunk when he operated, proving this is hard though as he faces a conspiracy of silence.
- A sobbing 17-year-old girl, driving erratically, manages to get herself to the Bennett Clinic, where she dies in the operating room moments after being attended to. At the request of her grief-stricken family, Quincy performs an autopsy and determines that young Julie Reed died of massive hemorrhaging caused by internal injuries following a botched abortion procedure at the same clinic, and that the attending obstetrician, Dr. Ronald Shafer, was negligent. Determined to find out the truth, Quincy seeks out Shafer...who tells him that Julie lied to him about the length of her pregnancy, and becomes defensive of his medical practices. The father of the would-be child then visits Quincy and tells him that he accompanied Julie to the procedure, and that Shafer appeared drunk. Quincy presses further and experiences a protective wall of silence among the peers of the well-respected surgeon, but slowly manages to penetrate it and learn the truth. His next challenge is getting the cooperation of those around him who are able to stop Shafer's recklessness once and for all.
