Sam leaps into the body of Jack Stone, a police detective who stops a man from committing suicide. The man's wife has been murdered so the assumption is that the husband is the killer. Sam has a problem however: he keeps having flashbacks to the detective's childhood and the fact that Jack saw his own mother murdered. Sam assumes that part of the detective's memory has stayed with him despite the leap. It all takes a very different turn when Al tells him that he can change the future, Jack will be killed in the next 48 hours.
