    Childhood Trauma !
This is hands down one of the scariest episodes of Punky Brewster. In fact, the reason why I was one of over a thousand children who were scared to death by this episode is because Punky Brewster was not suppose to be scary. The camping trip had no warnings that this harmless comedy was going to turn into a Jim Morrison music video. A bad acid trip in a way, the episode has everything from neon lights appearing in an under ground cave, a creepy Indian guy and things starting to appear and disappear right in front of your eye. And eyes! You start to see within the shadows, pairs of red and green eyes start to watch Punky as she makes her way to the scariest "To Be Continued" ever for a ten year old. Without warning, a giant green neon spider rushes toward the television set just in time to destroy a child's innocence. Not even enough time to change the channel, the child is scared into submission as they are left in childhood shock. Looking back, it make me miss the quality of children programs that the 80's had to offer. By today's standards, this episode would not have made it into production. Check it out.
