Despite being set in Santa Barbara, California, a vast majority of the show is filmed in various locations across the British Colombian Lower Mainland. The Psych office is set in White Rock, BC which bears remarkable similarity to the Santa Barbara coast. The office set can be seen when one takes a walk along the beach in White Rock. You will see the real Santa Barbara in various bird's eye shots and a few street level establishing shots.

The scene where Shawn picks up a pineapple and says "Should I slice this for the road" was not in the script James Roday just added it. They weren't sure wither to keep the scene or not but they decided to keep it unaware of the impact that it would have on the show so the "Pineapple" was born!
