He has been smuggled into Britain with the help of his publisher Lockier (Donald Houston.) Harry Rule is guarding Nickolai.
Only Locker's son Peter (Bruce Robinson) a left wing rebel knows what is happening. He tells his friends in a British pro communist group about Nickolai.
Following orders from Moscow, they abduct NickolI leaving Harry with a headache and egg on his face.
With Harry missing, it is left to Contessa Caroline di Contini and Paul Buchet to find Harry. Then track down where Nickolai is being kept and hoping that his manuscript is not destroyed.
Rather a humdrum episode. The slippery slope starts at the beginning of an episode. Harry does not shut the door properly or is alert to the notion that he is being played by the young woman.
