Karen's appeal seems to be going badly since there is no corroboration for her husband's abuse. Lyn goes off happily to her nursery job and is left alone while the owner runs errands. The office is locked, and when a customer hands her money, she puts it in her pocket. A woman is caught shoplifting and sent to Wentworth on remand; she refuses to give her name although her fingerprints will identify her as a repeat offender. Karen's mother reconsiders, testifies to hearing the husband demand Karen get an abortion, and the jury reduces her conviction to manslaughter. The judge reduces her sentence to 2 years. Lyn is accused of taking the money by her boss, although she had forgotten it; she walks off the job and police are notified. At the appointed time, Lyn walks up to the prison gate. Written by
