Episode 16 "Grammargate" the conclusion
6 June 2010 | by See all my reviews

The concluding part of this episode aired only on the USA Network in January 1993,but was ignored by NBC when they showed the few remaining unaired entries during the summer of 1993. Bradley agonizes over whether or not he and his bride slept together on their honeymoon, while Theodore must compose his own speech to introduce a new bill on global warming to the entire Congress. Meantime, Margaret and Caitlyn break into Pierce's school to steal his incriminating file, thus preventing the scandal from harming the boy's future political career; all they need to do is bribe the security guard (Patrick Cronin), whose wife would just love a bottle of Caitlyn's perfume (it's called Chagrin!). Caitlyn thoroughly enjoys being a 'bad girl,' even managing to sneak into the boys' rest room ("I've never been in one before, I was curious...why do they put ice in the urinals?"). Theodore gives his speech before the entire assembly ("I'm Representative Theodore Van Horne, and soon I'm going to introduce a bill to stop global warming, and the whole planet's in big trouble so you better pass it!"), receiving a standing ovation for delivering "the shortest speech in the history of the United States Congress!" Charlotte looks forward to meeting her hero, Gertie Warner, at a celebration at the Powers residence (Charlotte: "I followed her career for years, did you know that George C.Scott modeled himself after her when he played Patton?"). She winds up with the General's hat, while Bradley simply winds up being puzzled by his experiences with the 55-year-old bride.
