Grandad refers to his mate 'Nobby Clark' when he's telling Del and Rodney about his mate who did the gun running with him in the War. Kenneth MacDonald's (who played Mike the landlord) character in It Ain't Half Hot Mum (1974) was a gunner named 'Nobby Clark'.

To try to transform freezing Dorset into sunny Benidorm, the production crew turned the lights way up bright; in subsequent episodes where the Trotters went abroad like Miami or Monte Carlo, the BBC had the budget to send them there.
