Chris, electricity, and a glowing pickle. That is a real thing. Using a variac power supply to convert AC to DC and pumping that through a pickle causes the sodium ions in the pickle to emit an orange yellow light. This is called 'sodium D line emission'. Caution: touching the electric pickle can get you dead; also, electrocuted pickles smell really really bad. Never do this in a small, poorly ventilated room.
