- A man in uniform appears at the door of Captain Mike Watson's home informing his wife, Julie, that her husband has been injured. She grabs their blind daughter, Sandy, from the piano to accompany him to where Mike is being treated. But it's a sham. It is a scheme to grab Julie and Sandy so that they can be held hostage for a $2M ransom demand. Mike becomes aware of the situation when his computer it taken over with instructions to follow if he wants to see his wife and daughter again. He must stay in his office and must put a webcam in place so that his actions can be monitored. To further reduce interference, he gives his secretary the day off but manages to slip her a note apprising her of the situation and to notify NCIS of his predicament. After hearing the secretary's story, Gibbs activates the team. He has Cait and McGee check out the Watson residence. Abby is instructed to hack into Mike's computer in the Pentagon. Tony is to dig up any information he can people who may hold a grudge against Mike. Gibbs dresses up as a gunnery sergeant and delivers some folders to Mike's office. A mini cam is hidden in the stack of folders. When he picks up a picture of Sandy, he attaches a microphone to the back of its frame. The NCIS team can now follow Mike's activities as he seeks to amass $2M in accessible funds. He is constrained to $10K increments by regulations. Abby begins trying to remove voice distortions used by the ransom requester. Tony shows up in Mike's office with a lunch take-out order to pass an in-ear speaker for communications. Gibbs coaches Mike to bargain for the release of young Sandy as a show of good faith. It works. Sandy is deposited at a train station. Being a blind pianist, she has very acute hearing and an amazing ability to recognize pitches by their frequencies. She helps them learn that Julie is being held in a rail-yard. This is narrowed down by the time it took to get her there. Tony gets prints off of Sandy that allow him to identify the man making the demands. Gibbs, Cait and Tony infiltrate the rail-yard. Abby and McGee have hacked into Mike's computer and tell the captor that his location is surrounded. Gibbs gets the drop on the man as Abby and McGee track the money transfer that Mike has initiated. It leads through Beijing, back to Washington D.C. NCIS picks up the culprit as he leaves the bank with the money.—Garon Smith
