Fran gets audited by the IRS. She has reason to be worried as she has falsified information on past returns. But she does whatever act of persuasion she can on the auditor, Josh Bassin. It doesn't work as she is issued a $5,000 tax bill. Maxwell convinces Fran to appeal the assessment. With Maxwell by her side, Fran thinks she's in luck when the appeals officer is a wannabe Broadway actor cum impressionist. Ultimately it's another show business connection that gets Fran out of her mess. Meanwhile, Maxwell tries to rekindle a "friendship" with Brighton just like they had when Brighton was a little kid. But Brighton, being a teenager, now has little in common with his father. And
