For all the trouble it caused it wasn't worth the effort
****SPOILERS**** It's these two Wall Street type Yuppies, years before the word Yuppi was even coined, Phillip & Arthur, William Redfield & Gerald Hiken, who got there hands on this Minerva statue that's been lost for over 2,000 years and then attempted to sell it to an unscrupulous collector Greek shipping magnet Alcibiades Munos, Kurt Kaszner. That's what started the ball rolling that ended in utter disaster for everyone involved. With Munso more then willing to pay $200,000.00, no questions asked, for the Minerva the thought in him being in the cast of the highly successful TV series "Naked City" was too much for his heart and had him drop dead within the first 15 minutes of the episode! That left both Phillip & Arthur holding the bag, as well as now worthless statute, in not having the cash to pay off those who heisted it, from a New York museum, the $25,000.00 that they promised to pay them!

It's the head of the team of statute-nappers Stitch played by Johnny Seven, is that a real name or made up one?, who puts the squeeze on Phillip & Arthur to come up with the cash or they'll, together with the Minerva, end up deep sixth at the bottom of then Hudson River. With all this going on it's the curator of the museum where the statue was stolen from Miss. Arlington, Glynis Jones, who goes out of her way risking her life to get her beloved Minerva back in dealing with Stitch, by paying him $25,000.00 in ransom, against the advice of the NYPD.

***SPOILERS*** It's the NYPD, New Yoprk Police Department, who uses the unsuspecting Miss. Arlington as bait to catch Stitch & his gang when she goes to this monument, for those recently deceased, wear-house in the South Bronx with the $25,000.00 in ransom money where the Minervar is hidden in plain sight or out in the open for anyone, including the police, to see! In a wild shoot-out between the police & Stitch's gang it's a miracle that the Minerva wasn't hit with all the bullets flying around which proved, to me at least, that the stone figure had magical as well as supernatural powers. As for Stich & Co. he and they warn't that lucky ending up shot and behind bars for doing something as stupid as stealing the worthless Minerva, that's so hot that no one would touch it, that wouldn't have gotten them as much as one wooden nickel or even red cent!
