Sinopse

  • Andy gets a phone call telling him that Clark Jr. is drunk at a bar and won't leave. Andy shows up, and a completely wasted Clark Jr. invites Andy to join him. But after Andy tells Clark Jr. it's time to leave, the younger detective's drunken good mood dissipates and he snarls at Andy to get lost. Andy tries to get him to leave by taking ahold of his arm, which Clark Jr. snarlingly pushes away, so Andy just takes away his car keys and heads outside. Clark Jr. gets up and goes up to Andy to fight him--but then gunshots ring out and Andy is hit as he and Clark Jr. hide. When the shots end, Andy has been grazed in the arm and Clark Jr. wants to help him. Andy ignores him and leaves. The investigation centers around whether the shooter was randomly firing at them or trying to hit one or both of the detectives. In the course of the investigation, Clark Jr.'s reputation is trashed around the 15th, as it is revealed he's been sleeping with every woman who will have him and that one of those "women" was an underage girl with a fake ID whose father found out and nearly kicked Clark's ass before the bartender threw him out. Meanwhile, Andy is getting closer to the proof that Stan Hatcher is behind the "PAB" garbage, even after Stan offers him insincere help from the PI agency he now works at. With some help from a surveillance store's reluctant but accurate-info owner, Andy links the listening device that was found in his car (thanks to Lt. Bale making Andy get his overdue maintenance on the vehicle completed, and then not nailing down with Andy what it meant for Andy to keep the device instead of turning it over to IAB for investigation). to Stan. Andy then ambushes Stan outside the PI office and makes him ride with him to an alley where Andy holds Stan at gunpoint and explains with cold anger that Stan's beliefs that Andy railroaded him don't mean a damn thing--Andy has the proof of what Stan's been up to and will murder his ass if he ever tries to even annoy Andy again. Unfortunately for Andy, Stan somehow taped Andy's threats and Lt. Bale lets Andy know about it. He also says he'll get back to Andy in 24 hours with any information he can find to save Andy's career. It takes about the same amount of time to solve the shooting outside the bar, as the trail leads to a snotty blonde woman who brushed off the romantic entreaties of a nerdy guy in order to have a one-night stand with Clark. The nerdy guy tries to pretend he's, well, not a nerd to Baldwin and Greg, but eventually caves and admits that being a social outcast got to him. He tried to win over the blonde, was enraged when Clark stole her away and came back the next night to make out with some other random stranger, and tried to shoot him out of frustration. While Clark looks worse than ever, Stan Hatcher's glee about taking down Andy turns to horror when his fed-up uncle (the Chief of Detectives) explains with epic disgust to Stan that based on the information they have, Andy would probably be fired from the NYPD but Stan would end up in jail for around 10 years. Stan whines for family assurance, so Uncle CoD tells Stan that his "reward" for his behavior is that he'll get a Florida PI's license, never contact or go near Andy in any way again, and preferably not talk to his uncle again for an indefinite time either. Lt. Bale isn't happy in any way though: he first tells an initially defiant but ultimately slack-defeated Clark that his margin for error is now zero and he'll be transferred out in disgrace if he isn't sober and ready for work 24/7, and then tells an initially-appreciative Andy that brokering the deal over Stan made him sick and Andy is dead wrong if he thinks they're now friends. Clark's response is to desperately try to get Baldwin to hang out with him, but Baldwin bluntly says Clark is an embarrassment and he will not be his friend while he's this gross. Andy's response is to just finish up his shift and prepare to go home. Clark meekly asks Andy if Andy's previous declaration that their partnership is over is officially. Andy just says he hasn't filed any paperwork, and agrees they can work their shift tomorrow like usual. Clark thanks him, and Andy heads home, leaving Clark sitting alone and exhausted in the locker room as the episode ends.
