Andrew Clements: [awkwardly trying to hook up with a classmate] I was wondering, what's your name?

Cyndy: Cyndy.

Andrew Clements: Oh, that's pretty. Where did you get a name like that?

Cyndy: [a bit mystified] My parents gave it to me.

Andrew Clements: Oh, that's the best way.

Cyndy: Yeah.

[they laugh nervously]

Andrew Clements: So, do you want to go out and see a movie tonight, or something?

Cyndy: Sure, I'd love to see a movie. But, I have to ask my Mom.

Andrew Clements: [completely serious] Well, gee, I don't know if I have enough money for the three of us.
