Two murders result when the CEO of a defense corporation tries to save his company by illegally selling leftover components.

In Cabot Cove, fisherman Henry Riddett is making illegal arms deliveries for businessman Martin Fraser, who is desperate to keep his company afloat. Fraser has not shared his company problems with girlfriend Eve Simpson. When Riddett quits, he is found dead on his boat before he can warn Sheriff Metzger. Fraser's only hope for a big order to revive his company is a subsurface monitoring device that isn't functional yet. Financial adviser Carl Ward discovers the illegal sales and demands a piece of the pie or he'll go to the feds. Shortly thereafter, Ward is found dead on Fraser's company boat. Fisherman Henry Riddett, who was helping him with illegal missile guidance technology sale, is murdered and Ward shortly after he blackmailed Frazer. Back home in Cabot Cove, Jessica works with Sheriff Metzger to solve the murder of fisherman Henry Riddett. The initial conclusion is that his death was accidental but when investment banker Carl Ward dies in virtually the same circumstances, it's too great to be a coincidence. Riddett worked part-time for businessman Martin Fraser, whose high tech defense contracting company is going under, and Ward was thinking of investing in the company. Ward was aware that Fraser was illegally shipping his stale inventory to raise cash to keep his company going until his chief scientist Brian Bentall gets their latest product, a marine survey system, ready for market. Fraser is the obvious suspect but he and anyone else associated with the dead men seem to have cast iron alibis.—garykmcd
