Tell that to the writers

Maddie becomes obsessed with a portrait of herself painted by an artist who killed himself. Why do men kill themselves over it? What's its secret?

This episode shows why we made Bruce Wiilis a star. David's loud and crass (particularly crass) but in the freewheeling 1980s no one could foresee our current era of excessive prudery and censorship. He was funny even when cringeworthy.

Other reviewers have compared this episode to a mini-Vertigo (Hitchcock movie) and the music is very Vertigo-ish. I find it a bit of a downer after the leprechaun episode (that wasn't so noticeable when this ground-breaking, cutting-edge series was rolling off the episodes once a week--or whenever they were ready--before bingeing was possible).
