Molly finds herself face to face with a hard-nosed gangster to whom she owes 4,000 pounds. In a risky game of poker, she risks everything to clear her debt, without letting Archie find out. Meanwhile, tensions arise between Fergal, Katrina and Archie as Fergal begins to show interest in Katrina and questions her relationship with Archie.
Still waiting for the grant, Archie prepares for the first visit to the house from the local council. He's set up a tableau on what the house may have looked like for the residents 100 years ago. After Katrina complains that no one cares about how the aristocracy once lived, Archie decides to set up a tableau of a working man's cottage but has only 36 hours to so. Molly's bookie Geordie McCann shows up, much to a jealous Hector's dismay. It turns out he's lost everything because of bad bets and has had to liquidate all of his assets, including selling Molly's IOUs to a shady character named Murdo. Learning that she owes £4000 - and that it's growing at the rate of £1000 a week - she challenges Murdo to a game of poker.
