Ed Talks for Crooks
25 February 2012 | by wes-connorsSee all my reviews

Their frequent chess games are interrupted when Wilbur (Alan Young) leaves "Ed" (voiced by Allan Lane) alone in the barn, to shop for Carol's upcoming birthday. Carol (Connie Hines) has been expecting a surprise gift of pearl earrings, which Wilbur buys. But during the purchase, jewel thief Logan Field listens to Wilbur and the clerk in order to plan a robbery. Later, the surprise birthday party attended by Wilbur, Carol, Roger (Larry Keating) and Kay Addison (Edna Skinner) is startled by two unexpected guests. This episode benefits from a memorable conclusion wherein Ed takes a rare chance with his speaking skills, and the jewelry shop phone call is a funny highlight. For a horse, Ed is an outstanding chess player.
