Trivia

In the original script Mike Barnes, a bisexual man deliberately spreading HIV to both men and women, was murdered by one of the women he infected. AIDS activists, concerned this would lead to vigilante violence against people with AIDS, lobbied for script changes and led demonstrations that caused filming to be shut down twice. See more »

After It Happened Episode
30 January 2016 | by mlmasseySee all my reviews

I have been searching for Midnight Caller for years and finally found it. This episode reminded me of why I thought it was important enough to keep looking for. AIDS was still a new disease and terrifying everyone thinking person (not those idiots who kept thinking it was 'a curse from G-d'). This episode was the first with Kay Lenz's character that dealt with what it truly was, and how it effected the different populations. This show was always well written and well acted, but seldom so relevant as this storyline at the time it was initially released. And even almost 30 years later, with AIDS not the automatic death sentence it was then, it's still relevant.
