Eerie but light-hearted
Mr-Fusion18 April 2016
Everything's at the expense of poor ol' Rick this week as he gets his heart broken and sets Magnum off on a good old-fashioned ghost story. Everyone sees the image of a woman who was murdered back in the '40s, but is it a genuine apparition or an elaborate ruse? 'The Woman on the Beach' is a pretty straight procedural, but there are moments when this is a lot of fun. Rick gets dumped early one, which has the others in a fit of belly laughs (it's a pretty funny scene) and everyone seems to be out to exasperate Magnum; Rick, TC, the eccentric shovel-wielding German.

Some good laughs here.

The Magnum mystery episode.
mm-392 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Woman on the Beach is a scary mystery! Halloween episode. Rick gets suckered by a Woman on the Beach. Is there a con or ghost.? There is an old school 40's movie plot here. T C and Higgens adds the humor. Directed, and acted well I just kept watching the silly but mysterious episode. The conclusion save the installment. Silly but entertaining. 6 stars.

Magnum Nights

Warning: Spoilers
The Woman on the Beach, the third episode of season 2, has a supernatural feel to it, and maybe was a precursor of the underrated Baywatch Nights. Anyway, the end was kind of spooky and really started to set Magnum, P. I. apart from the traditional detective procedurals, because it was kind of like, did Magnum really see a ghost or what?

Anyway, the idea of the woman on the beach being a ghost is quite thought provoking. It's one to think about, and anyway, it's hard to believe this episode debuted over 40 years ago. Yet this episode, and the whole series is quite timeless and really doesn't age.

Excellent Episode- one of the best of the entire series

Possibly my favorite Magnum episode.

The very recent negative review is silly, but typical in today's revisionist history Internet culture where people often over-criticique things from the past because, of course, we're so enlightened now. Give me a break.

There is not any yelling or overacting in this episode. Judith Baldwin, Tom Selleck, and the entire cast all do an excellent job in this exciting episode.

If you're a fan of the show, or are just getting in to it, do yourself a favor and check this one out. You'll really enjoy it.

A near perfect episode of "Magnum, P.I."

A very strong episode from Season 2, "The Woman on the Beach" is a perfect blend of suspense, drama, and comedy.

There are some wonderful comic scenes in this episode. Special mention must go to Rebecca Clemons as Hawaii's sexiest librarian and the prolific Kenneth Mars as the eccentric Joseph the Caretaker.

9 out of 10. Spooky and warm hearted.

One of the best!

One of the best Magnum episodes of the entire run of the series. The woman who plays Sara/Lisa is gorgeous and the cast does a really good job. A little ghost story that always brings back good memories of the show. I'm glad I watched it again tonight!

Although it's NOT my favorite Judith Chapman IS!

The older I get the more I appreciate really good acting! Actress Judith Chapman IS no such exception in my opinion. Her acting here as Sarah Clifford/Lisa Page IS Gloria Swanson superb in this edition of Magnum, P. I. She's truly a prolific character actor who's body of work on television from the 1970s on is to truly be appreciated for who she is .... a FINE character actor! BRAVO Judy Chapman 👏👏! ALL the LOVE and luck in the world to you young lady always. 💜🤞

Worst episode so far

Remembering the 80s, when yelling and over-emoting were considered acting. Only thing that could have made this worse would have been a laugh track.
