A strong episode
7 October 2018 | by DVD_ConnoisseurSee all my reviews

"The Black Orchid" is a strong episode from the first season of "Magnum P.I."

Beginning with an elaborate piece of role play, we are introduced to the bored wife of an infamously jealous and short tempered businessman, one of the "5 richest men" in Hawaii.

John Ireland is terrific as the powerful Wyndom Jackson, he has a very strong screen presence. Judith Chapman is excellent as his attractive wife, Louise. She craves an ever more exciting fantasy detective life to keep her entertained.

Magnum ends up in the middle of what appears to be a deadly game. But who is out to kill Louise?

8 out of 10. A really enjoyable tale.
