Goofs

Operation: Silent Night

Magnum, P.I.

Edit

Continuity

When Rick falls in the bog, his clothing is soaked and covered in mud. Several scenes later his clothes appear dry and not unusually dirty.

Factual errors

When announcing the time of the exercise, Captain Quintin notes it to occur at Twenty Four Hundred Hours. There is no Twenty Four Hundred Hours in Military Time, the Military Time for midnight is Zero Hundred Hours.
The explanation of Kwanzaa is inaccurate. It does not have roots from Africa but was promoted by an American, Ronald McKinley Everett, beginning back in the 1960s. Certain elements, such as the use of corn / maize, which is also linked to the Kinara (candle holder) have no connection to Africa, as it is not native to the continent. but first arrived in the 1500s. The observance began in the United States, but rather than using terms in an African language with historic links to America, the vocabulary is in Swahili, which is from the east coast of Africa, which was not a common source for slaves bound for America. The spirit of Kwanzaa is a different matter, as it promotes high standards of character, community-mindedness, and self-determination and in a more direct form than the observances of a number of major religious holidays.

Miscellaneous

The "fresh cut" bamboo poles for the outriggers are painted green.
The massive Combat Information Center shown does not match the compact CIC on the portrayed USS Wren. Likewise, an O-6 Captain would not have been the CO of a vessel like the Wren.

Character error

Higgins is supposed to be British, yet when he finds the wrecked plane, he pronounces aluminum the American way as alu-minum. The British spell it aluminium and pronounce it alu-mini-um.
