    • Trivia
In a recent interview with Alan Alda he admits that CBS executives would not permit the showing of the athletic supporter on camera during the scene with Margaret Houlihan and Sydney Freedman. Alan Alda admitted this was an interesting piece of reverse censorship as many episodes prior to this one, there had been several instances of visible female undergarments hanging in various tents without any controversy.
    • Goofs
Dr. Freedman writes that Father Mulcahy has "absolutely no training " as a therapist. A catholic priest is highly trained in not only theology, but how to relate to people.
    • Quotes

Capt. B.J. Hunnicut: We couldn't help but notice that you came for the poker game and stayed two weeks.

Maj. Sidney Freedman: Well, I just wanted a little vacation.

Capt. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce: Sydney, Biarritz is a vacation. The Swiss Alps is a vacation. This is a fungus convention in Atlantic City.

    Sidney's War
One of the best recurring characters, Dr. Freedman, the psychiatrist, gives us a take on the insanity we're practically numb to at this point. His insight on each character from the outside is like a love letter to the camp; devastated yet optimistic, Sidney watches the system of MASH persevere. He watches in his despair and looks to these people for hope in the hopeless; it's a wonder to see.
