When Henry goes to Tokyo for a conference, Frank outlaws alcoholic beverages, dismantles the still, and enlists Father Mulcahy to present a sermon on the evils of drink. But Frank discovers that drying out the 4077th isn't so easy.

With Henry in Tokyo giving a lecture, Frank turns into Carry Nation. He calls Trapper and Hawkeye alcoholics and his surveys show that 57.230% of all military personnel in the Asian theatre have a drinking problem. So Frank declares Prohibition. Fr. Mulcahy is asked to give a temperance lecture and he has a packed house; naturally, he is a bit nervous. He is better with the standards. Klinger suggests a "bracer" that will take the good priest there and back again. When all hell breaks loose, will the 18th Amendment be repealed for good?—LA-Lawyer

The 4077 camp movie projector is destroyed in the rain. It was movie night and the tent was leaking. Eventually, the water fell on the projector, frying it completely. With Henry in Tokyo giving a lecture on the military's position on hemorrhoids, Frank turns into Carry Nation. He calls Trapper and Hawkeye alcoholics; his surveys (list of questions that he asks all the officers in MASH 4077) show 57.230% of all military personnel in the Asian theatre have a drinking problem. Trapper and Hawkeye say that alcohol is the only way they can get through the 48 hr days. They are tired and filthy all the time. So Frank declares Prohibition. Hawkeye and Trapper are furious, but Frank has hidden their still. The guys goes bonkers and even ask MUlcahy if they can have his sacramental wine. Frank (who reminds Houlihan of her dad) allows Margaret to keep a flask of whiskey (which she claims was a gift from her father to her mother on their wedding night) as she complains she needs booze after long days in the surgery.

The night Hawkeye and Trapper find Margaret filling her flask from her private stash of booze in the supply tent. They were in there trying to look for alcohol in the medicines cabinet, when they see Houlihan coming in and hide. They end up drinking together. Frank discovers their little party, after he shuts down the MASH 4077 bar. Frank is furious with Houlihan and threatens to discipline anyone found with alcohol from this point on. Fr. Mulcahy is asked to give a temperance lecture and he has a packed house (since Frank gives an order to make the lecture mandatory); naturally, he is a bit nervous. He is better with the standard attendance of 1 or 2 people in the audience. Klinger suggests a "bracer" (wine bottle) that will take the good priest there and back again.

As the booze runs out, the tempers start to fray in the operating rooms. Hawkeye and Trapper start fighting as they are no longer drunk. They fight in the operating room. They they return to the swamp and Trapper says Hakweye has used his razor and his towel. Hawkeye is angry about Trapper's choice of magazines, no nudes. Hawkeye throws Trapper's mags all over the room, and Trapper calls him a slob. Hawkeye says Trappers toe nails are always in his bed. They come to blows and realize that they are alcoholics. Trapper and Hawkeye fight all the way over to Mulcahy's lecture and jostle their way onto their seats. Father Mulcahy has a bit too much wine before his lecture and passes out during the talk (when he was simply repeating himself with less and less clarity on each pass). Trapper rushes over to help Father Mulcahy and steps on Hawkeye and a big fight breaks out.

Frank tries to break them off and is hit in the stomach. Margaret gives him Brandy from her flask to ease the pain, and Hawkeye declares the 18th amendment repealed
