A reluctant Emma Clanton asks Nellie Cashman for help. Old Man Clanton wants Emma to marry Gringo Hawkby, a vicious rustler but Emma wants nothing to do with Hawkby. She asks Nellie to speak to her father to which Nellie agrees. After discussing it with Earp, Nellie drives to the Clanton ranch. Old Man Clanton complains that his three boys are unfit to take over the ranch so he is looking for a strong man to marry Emma to take over. His real concern, however, is that Emma is sweet on Earp but Nellie dispels that concern. Hawkby and his gang massacre a wagon carrying clothes and silver which he decides to give to Emma and Old Man Clanton to seal the engagement. A reluctant Old Man Clanton appears to back track over Emma's objections. Emma sneaks off to Tombstone for refuge with Nellie aided by Earp who is placed in a tight spot with Hawkby on Emma's trail. Did You Know?

Wyatt Earp: [Opening Narration] Friends as well as critics of Marshal Wyatt Earp were agreed on one point: his abhorrence of shooting to kill gave his enemies an unfair advantage. But the appearance of Gringo Hawkby brought Wyatt closer to the point of killing as the only way to preserve his own life.
