Trivia

Lucy, played by Mala Powers, was supposed to be "of age", meaning she was about 18-21. Powers was 29 when the program aired. Due to a white female born in this era having a life expectancy of around age 64, a nearly 30 year old woman that was not married was considered an old maid. Powers was only 4 years younger than Peggie Castle, who played saloon owner Lily. See more »

Goofs

Mala Powers can be seen to be wearing a modern bra under her blouse when she hugs Shag in Lily's room. This type of undergarment was not patented until 1889 in Germany, and not mass-produced until the 1910s. In the American west circa 1880 women still wore corsets. See more »

One of the best of any westerns of its era
16 August 2019 | by martinxperry-14868See all my reviews

This is one to record. An overly possessive father goes after the suitor of his daughter Lucy Dear daddy literally beats the man blind because daddy does not approve of Lucy's choice. Without giving everything away, it comes down to daddy and Lucy, played by Marla Powers, at gun point in the street. All of the regular cast do their usual outstanding job, but Marla Powers just nails her part. Her portrayal of Lucy is simply stunning.. All those years of over controlling, and her now blind, devoted beau right there and she is facing daddy with a six-gun in her hands. This is one of the best written and best acted westerns of that era and beyond. Marla is simply brilliant in her portrayal. When this one comes around, record it, as you will want to watch this one again.
