Several times during the episode white abalone is referred to as being a fish. In fact, it is a large species of sea snail also known as "Haliotis sorenseni." Their natural habitat is off the coast of southern California and northern Baja Mexico. The white abalone is considered to have the most tender and flavorful meat of all the members of the abalone family. As a result, they have been harvested nearly to the point of extinction. As of 2019, they are considered to be a critically endangered species. See more
