Sgt. Greevy and Det. Logan investigate the rape and murder of 24 year-old Paige Bartlett who is found dead in bed in her apartment. The assault was quite vicious with her larynx having been crushed. The police learn from a friend that Paige worked in real estate and had recently broken up with her boyfriend Ned Loomis. She was seen with another man at a bar the night she was attacked but likely met up with Loomis later on. ADA Stone knows he has a weak case against Loomis and can't use evidence of a previous attack against another woman for which Loomis was never charged. To get a conviction, Stone will need someone who knows Loomis very well.

I can't let you testify now.
The law won't let us introduce his prior bad acts.
Even if he'd been convicted of your assault, it would be very difficult.
So this guy can just go around hurting people, and they won't listen?
