After firing the shot, Carl Sanford rides off to tell his father what he has learned. Meanwhile, Daisy Cooper hoodwinks Slim Sherman and Jess Harper into painting the barn roof while she and Mike head to town, much to their chagrin. Neither Slim nor Jess planned on Ben, Carl and John Sanford using Sherman Ranch to hang Joe Vance, who's being transferred to Fort Leavenworth. Vance murdered Warren Sanford and Ben is after his own brand of justice and not what the court handed out. Slim and Jess are trapped into helping when the Sanford's threaten to harm Daisy and Mike if they don't. It's one of the Sanford's though, that springs the trap for Vance prematurely, allowing Slim and Jess the opening they need to stop the murderous Carl from going too far. Written by DarSpi

Up on the roof
10 February 2017 | by See all my reviews

Dan Duryea is always a must see for me as he guest stars in this Laramie story. He plays the patriarch of a mountain man family of trappers who aren't quite civilized. But they have a score to settle with a man the law only convicted of manslaughter who is going off to prison with a stop at the Sherman station.

The Duryea clan runs into a piece of luck when they find John Smith and Robert Fuller on the barn roof painting and without guns. Just a matter of holding them hostage till the arrival.

The surviving Duryea sons are Alex Cord and Jason Evers. Cord is an innocent, but Evers just ain't housebroken for civilization and has a taste for killing. One gets a feeling their brother was no great specimen either as is John Cliff who killed him.

The plot of this episode is taken a lot from the Frank Sinatra movie Suddenly. Think about how that plot was foiled.
