It's a case of murder and revenge when a friend of Jess Harper's is unjustly accused, tried, convicted and hung for the murder of Doc Webb and Sheriff Kiley. The problem is John MacLean was an innocent man and Jess was looking for the real murderer while Slim Sherman tried to stop the trial being held at Sherman ranch. When Jess gets back to the ranch with the real murderer he finds John MacLean dangling from a tree and Slim nursing a head wound. Jess is enraged at all the men who participated in the kangaroo court, including Judge Matthew Hedrick and his son Jim. His desire for justice for MacLean may cost him his friendship with Slim and possibly his freedom when the men responsible are found guilty but without criminal intent and set free.
