In the planetarium, the stars on the ceiling are stationary when you see the projector spinning around. The stars should be moving in concert with the projector.

The character of Monique Marmelstein appears in this episode. However, in the immediately preceding episode, (#1.2 "The Zombie)", Kolchak had sent her back to her home Brooklyn in a taxicab when she became overwhelmed at a murder scene. EXPLANATION: And she took an airplane back. The time between episode is not specified.

If the magnetic field was really as strong as depicted it would have erased Kolchaks magnetic audio tapes.

Just after the pallets of lead ingots disappear in front of them, Kolchak (Darren McGavin) looks at Captain Quill (James Gregory) and says, "Wha- wha do you think happened?" James Gregory then confuses the actor's name and replies not with the character Kolchak- but to the actor's name - "I don't know Gavin, looks like to me I've got to take some of that overdue vacation time I got comin'."

Captain Quill actually says, "I don't know what happened," not "I don't know, Gavin." As he speaks, "what happened" is somewhat mumbled, so this could easily be misunderstood.

Kolchak says; "What's that!" before the wall bursts open.

UPDATE: This is not a goof. Kolchak is reacting to the low-pitched humming sound that rises in volume just prior to the wall bursting open. Other characters also react to this sound throughout the story.

Despite police officers spraying several extinguishers on the flaming police vehicle, the fire in it never goes down or decreases.

In the shot of Kolchak crossing a street and then a plaza between two buildings at night, the film footage has been flipped over (apparently because the director wanted Kolchak to be walking left to right, as opposed to right to left). This is obvious because in the background is a lighted store sign on which all the lettering is backwards, and Kolchak is seen carrying his camera on his "right" shoulder. When the shot changes and he enters an inside doorway, his camera is now seen carried in its usual place on his left shoulder.

A sub plot is the Cubs playing the Red Sox in the World Series. Kolchak narrating gives dates of the first week of September during his investigation. The World Series at that time was played during the beginning of October.

Kolchak states that his camera's "nickel-cadmium" flash battery recharging is what stopped the monster. However he badly mispronounces the word "cadmium."
